Blue apatite holds a vivid, oceanic blue, at times almost neon, at times deep as teal. Its name comes from the Greek 'apate' — deceit — for it was long mistaken for other gems.
 
Emotional and spiritual virtues — It is regarded as a stone of inspiration and clear vision, said to open the third eye, stimulate insight and give voice to ideas seeking expression.
