Black mother-of-pearl is one of the rarest and most mysterious materials the ocean can offer. It comes mainly from the black-lipped pearl oyster — Pinctada margaritifera — found chiefly in French Polynesia. Its iridescent surface reveals, depending on the angle of light, green, blue, golden or violet reflections that seem inhabited from within. Each JUMBO piece is a fragment of the deep ocean, of a dark and spellbinding beauty.
Emotional and spiritual virtues — It is associated with emotional depth, protection and self-revelation. It is said to accompany those moving through a time of intense introspection, who seek to explore their shadow zones with courage and kindness. Its vibration, at once dense and luminous, invites you to embrace every facet of yourself — including those you hide. On a spiritual level, it is said to foster connection with the deep lunar energies, the wisdom of the waters and the quiet power of the feminine in its most mysterious form.
Legend — In Polynesia, black mother-of-pearl lies at the heart of a founding myth. It is told that Tāne, god of the sea and of light, offered the first black pearl oyster to the moon as a symbol of eternal love. The black pearl born of it carried within it both the light of the moon and the depth of the ocean. Ever since, black mother-of-pearl has been regarded as a sacred link between sky and sea, between light and darkness.
