Dumortierite is a dense, matte blue shot through with violet — an unassuming stone, quiet as ink. It was named in 1881 for the French palaeontologist Eugène Dumortier.
 
Emotional and spiritual virtues — It is regarded as a stone of patience and mental clarity, said to calm nervousness, sharpen concentration and support the confidence to say what is true.
 
The finish can be chosen: gold-plated or silver-plated brass.
