Legend — The name "malachite" comes from the Greek malakos, meaning "soft", in reference to its texture, or from malakhe, a green plant whose colour recalls the stone. In ancient Egypt it was used as a make-up pigment and as a protective amulet, symbolising life, fertility and divine protection. In the Middle Ages it was believed to guard against the evil eye and to warn of danger by breaking. Shamans and healers used it for its protective properties and to ease communication with the spirits. A stone of transformation, it is ideal for rituals of protection and change, and offers constant protection and emotional balance when worn.
